Chevrolet Celebrates America's 250th in Style

Chevrolet Celebrates America's 250th in Style

There are birthday celebrations, and then there is what Chevrolet pulled off on May 23 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. With America's 250th anniversary in full swing, Chevrolet found a fitting way to mark the occasion: putting the most powerful production car in the country on one of the most iconic tracks in the world and blowing out 250 birthday candles with a tire-smoking tribute for the ages. Behind the wheel of the American-assembled Corvette ZR1X was Corvette Senior Controls and Software Engineer Cody Bulkley, who used the hypercar's breathtaking performance to extinguish all 250 candles in a display of power and precision on the Indy track. "Resilience, pride and work ethic of Americans have driven our nation forward for 250 years," said Scott Bell, Vice President of Global Chevrolet. "For nearly 115 years, Chevrolet has been engrained in America's story. Corvette has long been a symbol of the American dream, so it is a privilege to celebrate this moment at the Racing Capital of the World." The birthday stunt was just one piece of a much larger celebration. Chevrolet has introduced a limited-edition Stars and Steel Collection, a curated lineup of vehicles designed to honor American craftsmanship and purpose-driven patriotism. The collection reflects Chevrolet's deep roots in this country and its pride in being part of the American story for well over a century. Chevrolet has also revived one of its most beloved taglines, bringing back "See the USA in your Chevrolet" as a tribute to the brand's 114-year journey alongside the American people. At the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500, the Official Pace Car was a Corvette ZR1X finished in a bold Arctic White and Admiral Blue stars-and-stripes design inspired by the Stars and Steel Collection. It is a paint scheme that will live in racing history as a lasting symbol of this milestone anniversary. A Year-Long Celebration Chevrolet's tribute to America's 250th is not a one-day event. Throughout the year, the brand will continue revisiting iconic moments from its own history, drawing a line from Chevrolet's founding to the present day and celebrating the unique bond between this brand and this country.

Built to Be Built On: The Legacy of Chevrolet Performance

Built to Be Built On: The Legacy of Chevrolet Performance

Some legacies are measured in trophies. Others are measured in the rumble of an engine at a stoplight, the smell of race fuel at a drag strip, or the sight of a meticulously restored classic rolling down the highway. For Chevrolet Performance, the legacy is all of the above, and it stretches back more than 70 years. This week, that history rolls into the spotlight at the annual Hot Rod Power Tour, where Chevrolet Performance returns as a title sponsor and puts its lineup of crate engines, transmissions, and performance parts on full display for the enthusiast community that has kept this tradition alive for generations. How It All Started: 1955 The story begins with the legendary 265-cubic-inch Small Block V8, introduced in 1955 and fitted to icons like the Corvette and Bel Air. Compact, powerful, and endlessly tuneable, the Small Block became the foundation of Chevy performance culture and a benchmark the rest of the industry spent decades chasing. Growing the Legend: 1967 and 1970 The arrival of the Camaro in 1967, paired with the first 350 V8, pushed the Small Block's reach far beyond the showroom floor. Then in 1970, the LT1 arrived in the Corvette and Camaro Z/28, becoming one of the highest-output small blocks of its era and cementing Chevrolet's credibility with serious performance enthusiasts. Into the Modern Era: The LS and LT Few engines have reshaped hot-rodding quite like the LS, introduced as a crate engine option in 1997. Compact, flexible, and seriously powerful, the LS became the go-to swap engine for builders across nearly every genre, from street rods to drag cars to off-road trucks. Its influence is still felt everywhere you look in the enthusiast world today. Chevrolet evolved the formula again in 2014 with the Gen V LT engine family, bringing improved power, responsiveness, and drivability to a new generation of builders. The L8T and L8P performance variants carry that tradition forward in today's Chevy Performance lineup. Power Tour: Where the History Comes to Life At this year's Hot Rod Power Tour, Chevy Performance is showcasing that heritage through some standout builds, including a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle running the SP502/605 Deluxe crate engine and 4L75 transmission, a 1953 Chevrolet Suburban fitted with the LS376/525 crate engine and 6L80-E transmission, and a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle offering a preview of something exciting still to come later this year. From the 265 Small Block to the latest LT variants, Chevrolet Performance has never stopped giving enthusiasts new ways to build with Chevy power. Hot Rod Power Tour is one of the best places to see that legacy still moving, still roaring, and still inspiring the next generation of builders. Stop by Maritime Chevrolet to talk all things Chevy performance with our team. Whether you are building, restoring, or just dreaming, we love talking horsepower.

Corvette ZR1X

Corvette ZR1X Redefines American Performance

The legend of Corvette performance has officially entered a new era. The Chevrolet Corvette ZR1X, the most advanced Corvette ever produced, has claimed its place as the quickest American production car, and one of the fastest ways to conquer the quarter mile for under a million dollars. After extensive real-world testing, the ZR1X completed final validation in October 2025 at US 131 Motorsports Park, a setting that mirrors how Corvette owners truly push their vehicles. On a prepped drag strip, using pump gas, standard-equipment tires, and a production, 50-state street-legal calibration, the ZR1X delivered astonishing results: Quarter mile: 8.675 seconds at 159 mph 0–60 mph: 1.68 seconds Peak acceleration: 1.75G, reaching 60 mph in under 100 feet “This is exactly the type of performance we envisioned when we made the revolutionary move to a mid-engine platform,” said GM President Mark Reuss. What makes these numbers even more impressive is their consistency. Equipped with its standard aero configuration, Michelin PS4S tires, and available carbon fiber wheels, the test vehicle completed multiple back-to-back quarter-mile runs all under 8.8 seconds, proving this level of performance is no fluke. At the heart of the 2026 Corvette ZR1X is a twin-turbo LT7 V8 engine paired with a front-axle electric motor, producing a staggering 1,250 horsepower through an electrified all-wheel-drive system. This blend of raw power and advanced technology places the ZR1X in elite company—while remaining dramatically more attainable than many multi-million-dollar hypercars. Much of this performance comes down to Corvette’s Custom Launch Control, standard across the lineup from Stingray to ZR1X. The system manages tire slip, clutch engagement, and launch RPM to help drivers extract maximum acceleration with confidence. Even on an unprepped surface, the ZR1X continues to impress, completing the quarter mile in 8.99 seconds and reaching 0–60 mph in 1.89 seconds when equipped with the available ZTK Performance Package. The Corvette ZR1X isn’t just fast, it’s a bold statement about the future of American performance. Stay tuned to Maritime Chevy for more on the latest Corvette innovations and what’s next for this iconic nameplate.

Reasons Why You Should Consider Going Green for Your Next Vehicle

If you’ve been considering making the switch to an electric vehicle (EV), there’s never been a better time to take the leap. Whether you’re eyeing a brand-new model or a reliable pre-owned option, EVs deliver remarkable value, lower ownership costs, and an exceptional driving experience. Let’s take a closer look at the reasons why choosing an EV today makes so much sense: Significant Cost Savings One of the most compelling reasons to buy an EV, especially a pre-owned one, is the incredible cost savings. Today’s used EV market offers unbeatable value, with average prices hovering around $33,645. That’s nearly half the price many models commanded during their peak in 2022. And the savings don’t stop there. If you’re purchasing a used EV priced under $25,000, you could be eligible for a federal tax credit of up to $4,000, making your investment even more affordable. Combined with lower fuel costs compared to gasoline vehicles, EVs offer long-term financial benefits that are hard to ignore. Low Maintenance & Long Battery Life Electric vehicles are engineered for simplicity and durability. Because they have fewer moving parts than traditional gas-powered cars, EVs experience less wear and tear. That means fewer trips to the shop for oil changes, exhaust repairs, or transmission issues because EVs don’t need them! Even better, most EV batteries are built to last 10 years or more, and they typically come with robust warranties that cover the battery for 8–10 years. This gives EV owners added confidence and helps keep maintenance costs low over the life of the vehicle. Enhanced Driving Experience From the moment you press the accelerator, you’ll feel the difference an EV offers. Thanks to instant torque, electric vehicles deliver quick, smooth acceleration without the noise or vibration of a combustion engine. The result? A driving experience that’s both quiet and thrilling. Whether you’re navigating city streets or cruising down the highway, EVs provide responsive handling and a level of comfort that enhances every journey. Certified Pre-Owned Peace of Mind If you’re leaning toward a used EV, a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) model can be a smart choice. CPO electric vehicles come with added assurance, including extended warranties, roadside assistance, and comprehensive inspections performed by factory-trained technicians. This means you can drive off with confidence, knowing that your pre-owned EV meets high-quality standards and has been thoroughly vetted for reliability. A Greener Choice for the Future Beyond the personal benefits, choosing an electric vehicle helps support a cleaner, more sustainable future. By driving an EV, you’re reducing your carbon footprint, lowering greenhouse gas emissions, and contributing to improved air quality in your community. Ready to make the switch? Whether you’re interested in a new EV or want to explore our certified pre-owned selection, our team is here to help you find the right vehicle for your needs and budget. Click here to schedule your test drive and experience the future of driving for yourself!

Corvette Unveils High-Tech Interior Overhaul for 2026 Lineup

For 2026, the entire Chevrolet Corvette lineup (Stingray, E-Ray, Z06, and the upcoming ZR1) receives a major interior update, featuring larger, more advanced displays, refined materials, and a reimagined cabin designed for driver engagement and comfort. The cabin of the new 2026 Corvette welcomes both driver and passenger, beginning with a new three-screen layout and reimagined console design. The updated driver-centric cockpit includes a larger 12.7-inch diagonal center console display, an expanded 14-inch diagonal driver information center, and an all-new 6.6-inch diagonal touchscreen auxiliary display to the left of the steering wheel. This layout enhances functionality and delivers a modern, driver-focused environment. Controls have been repositioned for greater convenience, including a new wireless charging pad, an improved volume knob, and HVAC controls that create a more open layout between the driver and passenger. Additional refinements include ambient-lit cupholders, aluminum trim on higher trims, and a new USB-C port on the passenger side. The ZR1 and select trims offer a new carbon fiber display hood, complementing other performance-oriented options. Corvette’s updated display graphics now include Tour, Sport, and Track modes with sharper visuals and customizable layouts. The optional Performance App, previously exclusive to the E-Ray, is now available across the entire lineup. It tracks power delivery, acceleration times, G-force, tire conditions, and key engine vitals. This data can be viewed on the new auxiliary display or transferred to the main display for enhanced visibility. The available Performance Data Recorder has been overhauled with a user-friendly interface and sharper video capture, allowing drivers to analyze their laps in detail with features like real-time speed tracing, side-by-side playback, and on-screen tips. All 2026 Corvettes feature a custom infotainment system with Google Built-in, enabling voice-activated control over vehicle settings, navigation, climate, media, messaging, and more. When parked, drivers and passengers can enjoy streaming services and apps such as HBO Max, Prime Video, GameSnacks, and Chrome through Google Play. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also included. “Corvette is the ultimate American sports car, and with these updates, it’s ready to lead the luxury performance segment well into the future,” said Scott Bell, Vice President of Chevrolet. With its bold new interior and performance-driven enhancements, the 2026 Corvette lineup reaffirms its place at the forefront of American automotive excellence.
