Maritime Chevrolet would like recognize John Leslie and the Parts Department for assisting the Fairfield Police Department with a sting to catch a group of thieves. Earlier this month we received a call asking to purchase a bumper and a headlight that was priced at about $1,300, using a stolen credit card. The Parts Department immediately cancelled the order and worked with the Police Department when they realized it was a fraudulent purchase. Two days later, 2 men pulled up to the store in a Uhaul looking to pick up the bumper and headlight that was previously ordered. At this point, Maritime called the Fairfield Police Department to notify them that a man had come in. 3 police officers came to the store and arrested both men. Later on that day, the original man who called to order the parts called back to see if his guys had come to pick up the order. Maritime notified the police department that a 3rd man had been involved. When speaking to one of the Maritime employees that helped with the case, he stated that this situation had really hit close to home because just a couple months prior he had been scammed out of $800. He was excited to take a risk and assist in catching the bad guy.
