Maritime Chevrolet Puts Easton Police on the Cutting Edge

We are proud to share some exciting news from right here in our community. Chief Foti Koskinas of the Town of Easton Police Department recently took delivery of a brand new Chevrolet Blazer EV Police Vehicle, presented by Maritime Chevrolet’s own Vice President, Eric Sandstrom. Congratulations to Chief Koskinas and the entire Easton Police Department, and thank you for your continued dedication to keeping our community safe!

This delivery is a reflection of something Maritime Chevrolet has built over many years of dedicated service to first responders across the region. Maritime Chevrolet of Fairfield is the go-to choice for New England municipalities when it comes to police supply units, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Our team specializes in understanding the unique needs of law enforcement and public safety agencies, working closely with cities and towns across New England to deliver the right vehicles at the right value. Our municipal lineup includes police SUVs and pickup trucks, the first pursuit-rated Silverado Police Pursuit Vehicle (PPV), Special Service Vehicles (SSV), and a growing selection of electric vehicle options built specifically for law enforcement duty.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV PPV is a groundbreaking vehicle that brings together proven police performance engineering and the latest in electric vehicle technology. Purpose-built for the demands of law enforcement, it features skid plates, police-rated tires, and front Brembo brakes, all paired with EV capabilities that position any police force for a cleaner, more efficient future on the road.

For departments looking to reduce their carbon footprint without compromising performance or reliability, the Blazer EV PPV is a compelling first step into an all-electric future.

Maritime Chevrolet also works with GM Financial to offer municipal lease programs designed with public entities in mind. Under this structure, payments are based only on the useful life of the vehicle, are typically included as a line item in the operating budget, and are not considered debt. It is a straightforward, cost-effective approach that helps municipalities manage both upfront and long-term maintenance costs.

Is your department or municipality due for an upgrade? Contact Maritime Chevrolet of Fairfield to learn how we can help simplify the process and put the right vehicles to work for your community.

Chevrolet Celebrates America's 250th in Style

There are birthday celebrations, and then there is what Chevrolet pulled off on May 23 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. With America’s 250th anniversary in full swing, Chevrolet found a fitting way to mark the occasion: putting the most powerful production car in the country on one of the most iconic tracks in the world and blowing out 250 birthday candles with a tire-smoking tribute for the ages.

Behind the wheel of the American-assembled Corvette ZR1X was Corvette Senior Controls and Software Engineer Cody Bulkley, who used the hypercar’s breathtaking performance to extinguish all 250 candles in a display of power and precision on the Indy track.

“Resilience, pride and work ethic of Americans have driven our nation forward for 250 years,” said Scott Bell, Vice President of Global Chevrolet. “For nearly 115 years, Chevrolet has been engrained in America’s story. Corvette has long been a symbol of the American dream, so it is a privilege to celebrate this moment at the Racing Capital of the World.”

The birthday stunt was just one piece of a much larger celebration. Chevrolet has introduced a limited-edition Stars and Steel Collection, a curated lineup of vehicles designed to honor American craftsmanship and purpose-driven patriotism. The collection reflects Chevrolet’s deep roots in this country and its pride in being part of the American story for well over a century. Chevrolet has also revived one of its most beloved taglines, bringing back “See the USA in your Chevrolet” as a tribute to the brand’s 114-year journey alongside the American people.

At the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500, the Official Pace Car was a Corvette ZR1X finished in a bold Arctic White and Admiral Blue stars-and-stripes design inspired by the Stars and Steel Collection. It is a paint scheme that will live in racing history as a lasting symbol of this milestone anniversary.

A Year-Long Celebration

Chevrolet’s tribute to America’s 250th is not a one-day event. Throughout the year, the brand will continue revisiting iconic moments from its own history, drawing a line from Chevrolet’s founding to the present day and celebrating the unique bond between this brand and this country.

Built to Be Built On: The Legacy of Chevrolet Performance

Some legacies are measured in trophies. Others are measured in the rumble of an engine at a stoplight, the smell of race fuel at a drag strip, or the sight of a meticulously restored classic rolling down the highway. For Chevrolet Performance, the legacy is all of the above, and it stretches back more than 70 years.

This week, that history rolls into the spotlight at the annual Hot Rod Power Tour, where Chevrolet Performance returns as a title sponsor and puts its lineup of crate engines, transmissions, and performance parts on full display for the enthusiast community that has kept this tradition alive for generations.

How It All Started: 1955

The story begins with the legendary 265-cubic-inch Small Block V8, introduced in 1955 and fitted to icons like the Corvette and Bel Air. Compact, powerful, and endlessly tuneable, the Small Block became the foundation of Chevy performance culture and a benchmark the rest of the industry spent decades chasing.

Growing the Legend: 1967 and 1970

The arrival of the Camaro in 1967, paired with the first 350 V8, pushed the Small Block’s reach far beyond the showroom floor. Then in 1970, the LT1 arrived in the Corvette and Camaro Z/28, becoming one of the highest-output small blocks of its era and cementing Chevrolet’s credibility with serious performance enthusiasts.

Into the Modern Era: The LS and LT

Few engines have reshaped hot-rodding quite like the LS, introduced as a crate engine option in 1997. Compact, flexible, and seriously powerful, the LS became the go-to swap engine for builders across nearly every genre, from street rods to drag cars to off-road trucks. Its influence is still felt everywhere you look in the enthusiast world today.

Chevrolet evolved the formula again in 2014 with the Gen V LT engine family, bringing improved power, responsiveness, and drivability to a new generation of builders. The L8T and L8P performance variants carry that tradition forward in today’s Chevy Performance lineup.

Power Tour: Where the History Comes to Life

At this year’s Hot Rod Power Tour, Chevy Performance is showcasing that heritage through some standout builds, including a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle running the SP502/605 Deluxe crate engine and 4L75 transmission, a 1953 Chevrolet Suburban fitted with the LS376/525 crate engine and 6L80-E transmission, and a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle offering a preview of something exciting still to come later this year.

From the 265 Small Block to the latest LT variants, Chevrolet Performance has never stopped giving enthusiasts new ways to build with Chevy power. Hot Rod Power Tour is one of the best places to see that legacy still moving, still roaring, and still inspiring the next generation of builders.

Chevy Bolt

Great news for electric vehicle fans: the Chevrolet Bolt has made its highly anticipated return, and it was worth the wait. The all-new 2027 Chevy Bolt is now on dealer lots, including Maritime Chevrolet. From the moment customers lay eyes on it, it’s easy to see why this little EV is making such a big splash.

Range anxiety? Not with the 2027 Bolt. This new model delivers up to an EPA-estimated 262 miles of range on a single charge — the most range of any EV under $30,000 on the market today. Whether you’re commuting across town or heading out for a weekend adventure, the Bolt has you covered.

Step inside and you’ll notice the cabin has been thoughtfully redesigned. A new 11.3-inch touchscreen with Google built-in keeps you connected and in control, while an 11-inch driver information center puts everything you need right in front of you. And for the first time ever, the Bolt offers available hands-free driver assistance technology: Super Cruise. Making it the most affordable vehicle in America to offer this capability.

The 2027 Bolt is also the first Chevrolet EV to feature a native NACS charging port, giving you access to a broader public charging network than ever before. When you need a quick top-up, available 150 kW DC fast charging can take you from 10% to 80% in just 25 minutes.

All of these upgrades come at a price that’s hard to argue with. The 2027 Bolt LT starts at just $28,995 MSRP — making it America’s most affordable EV. More range, better tech, faster charging, and a price that fits real life. The Bolt really does deliver it all.
The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt is available now at Maritime Chevrolet. Stop in for a test drive or visit MaritimeChevy.com to explore features, pricing, and more. We’d love to put you behind the wheel!

America's Hypercar Takes the Lead at Indy

This May, all eyes will be on the front of the grid at Indianapolis Motor Speedway — and a Chevrolet will be leading the way. The 2026 Corvette ZR1X has been selected as the Official Pace Car for the 110th Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge, taking place Sunday, May 24.

The ZR1X isn’t just a showpiece. With 1,250 horsepower delivered across all four wheels, it combines a 186 hp electric front motor with a 5.5L twin-turbo V8 producing 1,064 hp at the rear. The result? A car capable of hitting 60 mph in under 2 seconds and reaching a top speed of 233 mph — putting it firmly in the company of the race cars it will lead.

For Pace Car duty, the ZR1X is outfitted with the full Carbon Aero package, complete with dive planes, underbody aero strakes, and a rear wing generating more than 1,200 pounds of downforce at top speed. This is no ordinary pace car.

Honoring America’s 250th Anniversary

The livery is as striking as the performance. Designed alongside the Stars and Steel Collection, the ZR1X features a bold stars-and-stripes treatment with a unique twist: the car appears Arctic White from the driver’s side and Admiral Blue from the opposite profile. A painted stripe runs the full length of the carbon fiber spine on the rear hatch, and the interior carries the theme through with Santorini Blue seats, red accent seat belts, and red stitched floor mats.

“Every element was deliberately crafted to honor this milestone while expressing a forward-looking vision of Chevrolet design,” said Chevrolet Global Executive Design Director Phil Zak.

Leading the field of 33 drivers to the green flag will be Indiana University Head Football Coach Curt Cignetti, honored for guiding IU Football to an undefeated National Championship season. It’s a fitting tribute to a historic year in Indiana sports.

The 2026 race marks the 37th time Chevrolet has paced the Indianapolis 500, dating back to 1948, and the 23rd time for the Corvette specifically. No other car has paced “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing” more often, and with good reason. The Corvette is the longest-running nameplate in automotive history, and it continues to represent the very best of American performance and craftsmanship.

Come visit us at Maritime Chevrolet to see the latest from Corvette’s legendary lineup, including the all-electric E-Ray.

duramax engine vehicle

When most people think of diesel, they think loud, smoky, and rough around the edges. The 3.0L Duramax inline-six is here to change that perception. Available across GM’s full-size truck and SUV lineup, this engine has quietly built a loyal following by delivering something rare: serious capability paired with a genuinely pleasant driving experience.

With 305 horsepower and 495 lb-ft of torque, the numbers alone tell a strong story. But the real magic happens at low RPMs. The 3.0L Duramax delivers 95 percent of its peak torque at just 1,500 RPM, meaning you never have to push the engine hard to get things moving. That low-end pull is especially valuable when you’re hauling a trailer or loaded down with gear. The engine simply goes to work without drama, making it a natural fit for anyone towing a camper, boat, or utility trailer on a regular basis.

Here’s a figure that might surprise you: the 3.0L Duramax actually produces more torque than the 6.2L V8 (495 lb-ft versus 460 lb-ft). For drivers who frequently haul or tow, that extra twist at low speeds makes a meaningful difference, especially on long highway stretches or when climbing grades with a loaded trailer.

And because the engine doesn’t have to work as hard to move heavy loads, fuel efficiency stays strong even when you’re pulling weight. “This engine is great for anyone who has a moderate sized RV or another similar trailer, or someone who likes to take road trips,” Barta explains.

Speaking of road trips, the 3.0L Duramax is a standout performer when it comes to range. The 2026 Chevrolet Tahoe 2WD equipped with this engine offers an EPA-estimated 624 miles of highway range, along with best-in-class ratings of 22 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined. Fewer fill-ups means more time on the road and less time at the pump.

Nearly two decades of diesel development show in how refined this engine has become. Advanced emission control technologies, including an Exhaust Gas Recirculation system that cools and recirculates exhaust gases for cleaner combustion, make the 3.0L Duramax one of the cleanest diesel engines GM has ever produced. The result is a smooth, quiet ride that consistently surprises first-time diesel drivers.

The 3.0L Duramax is available in the following vehicles:

  • Chevrolet Silverado 1500
  • Chevrolet Tahoe
  • Chevrolet Suburban
  • GMC Sierra 1500
  • GMC Yukon
  • GMC Yukon XL

Interested in experiencing the 3.0L Duramax for yourself? Stop by Maritime Chevrolet for a test drive and see what nearly 20 years of diesel refinement feels like behind the wheel.
