Chevrolet’s iconic people and cargo haulers begin a new chapter today with the introduction of the all-new 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban. Each has been redesigned to be the ultimate SUV – offering the most interior space of any SUV, exclusive technologies and features, and the best driving dynamics in the full-size segment.
“There are no vehicles like Tahoe and Suburban – which have starred in Hollywood movies, carried military heroes and world leaders, and helped create countless family memories,” said Barry Engle, Executive Vice President and President, General Motors North America. “We’ve taken what people love about these pioneering SUVs and made them even better – adding more room for people and cargo, more advanced technology and an unrivaled driving experience.”
This was achieved through a complete transformation of Chevrolet’s full-size SUVs, combining the strongest aspects of its new full-size truck architecture with entirely new systems tailored to the needs of today’s SUV drivers and passengers.
“With an increasing number of SUVs on the market, we knew the all-new Tahoe and Suburban needed to reach higher than ever,” said Tim Herrick, Vice President, Global Product Programs. “We transformed Tahoe and Suburban to offer all-new technologies and features and deliver a better driving experience, while staying true to the versatility and capability that have earned people’s trust for generations.”
The 2021 Tahoe and Suburban go on sale in mid-2020 in North America, joining the new Silverado and Silverado HD to completely redesign Chevrolet’s full-size truck and SUV lineup within 24 months.
Driving with Fido
Dogs – a four legged creature who always seem to capture the human heart. Some scientists think our friendship with dogs could go as far back as 40,000 years. They have continued to grow alongside humanity from helping us hunt mammoths to chasing after sticks in the yard. We’ve loved them all along the way.
Having a dog is also good for your health as recent studies have confirmed. Dogs help to lower blood pressure and can even help with anxiety levels, not to mention, they can make car trips better too. But driving with Fido can also put his life at risk.
Dogs should be restrained to avoid interfering with the driver and to prevent injury in the event of a collision. People sometimes have a hard time grasping the thought of buckling their over sized dog, be it a Great Dane or a Labrador into a car, but trust us, it’ll save your life and your pet’s life too.
In a collision, an unrestrained animal becomes a projectile with the potential to cause enormous harm. The magnitude of the force is a straightforward calculation based on weight, speed and the distance it takes to stop. In a typical 30 mile-an-hour head-on crash, a 50-pound dog flies forward with an impact force of 1,500 pounds.
Not to worry though, we have just the thing to put your mind at ease. The Center for Pet Safety organization works hard to research pet safety and educate pet owners on how best to keep their pets safe. Click here for their pet-travel tips and other important safety resources.

Car Care: Don’t Let Winter Get You Down
With winter in full swing, keeping your vehicle running smoothly and efficiently is more important than ever. No one wants to get stuck on the side of the road during a nasty storm, or spend their time in the car shivering because the heater blows cold air. Even though some things are uncontrollable, there are things you can do to keep your vehicle in top shape.
With the temperatures dipping below freezing in many parts of the country, your heating system needs to be in good shape. The system should be inspected at least once a year, or in accordance with your owner’s manual, by the trained technicians at your dealer. A sufficient amount of antifreeze mixed at the right proportion of water to antifreeze is important to the proper functioning of your heating and cooling system. The system should be checked for leaks and the heater fan should be checked for proper operation. It’s also important to have your exhaust system checked for any leaks, including carbon monoxide. Undetected carbon monoxide leaks can prove especially dangerous during winter, when the windows are primarily closed.
A braking system in good working condition is important year round. If you hear squealing or grinding, feel vibration or sponginess in the pedal, or the vehicle pulls to either side when you brake, it’s time to bring the vehicle in and have the brake system inspected. Modern brake systems are sophisticated and can include electronic sensors and interrelated safety features in addition to the usual items like pads, rotors and calipers. That’s why it’s important to have your brakes serviced by manufacturer-trained service technicians for your make of vehicle.
Often overlooked items like windshield wipers (front and rear, if so equipped) and wiper fluid should be checked and replaced/refilled as necessary. Your windshield should be free from cracks and chips. If not, visit your dealer; minor chips can often be repaired or stabilized to prevent larger cracks, or your dealer can arrange windshield replacement if necessary. Again, properly trained technicians will use manufacturer-approved adhesives and replacement techniques to ensure a proper seal, and they have the experience necessary to avoid damaging rain sensors, windshield-mounted cameras or other features your vehicle may have.
Your battery works extra hard during the colder months, so make sure it’s in good shape. A dead battery can be the difference between starting right up and having to wait for a jump-start in a dark parking lot. Have it tested to prevent unexpected failure, and replace it if necessary, before it dies. Headlamps, taillamps, fog lamps, daytime running lights, turn signals, parking lights and reverse lights are important for good visibility. Make sure they are all functioning properly and replace any that are out. Your dealer’s parts counter will have the bulbs specific to your make and model.
A set of heavy-duty floor mats for your car or truck can offer better protection for your carpeting during the winter, as can cargo area liners. Look for products made specifically to fit your vehicle. A bag of sand or kitty litter, an extra blanket, some water and some flares in your trunk can be very useful this time of year, too.
Your vehicle might be one of your biggest investments, and making sure it is ready for anything now can save you a great deal of time and trouble in the future.

Finding a Way to Give Back
The holiday season is always an exciting time of the year. The weather really begins to feel cold, decorations are put on display and so much more. With everything going on, it can be easy to overlook those who may not be as unfortunate. That is why Maritime Chevrolet gives back. We partner with numerous charities in the Fairfield County area and would like to show you a couple local organizations that are always looking for that extra bit of help.
Little Black Dog Rescue: This is a charity that’ll get your tail wagging. Little Black Dog Rescue is a non-profit organization that focuses on the rescue, care, and placement of black dogs who are in danger of euthanasia, as well as other dogs who are in immediate need. Maritime Chevrolet has partnered numerous times with this organization with visits to our dealership for adoption events. The cost to operate a rescue organization is steep: medical, food and upkeep are just a few of the expenses that are alleviated by your help. We will have a bin for you to donate various dog items like non-perishable food, or toys to play with! Every bit counts! For more information, visit this link: http://www.littleblackdogrescue.org/.
Toys for Tots: Not everyone is fortunate enough to receive presents throughout the holiday season. Luckily the Toys for Tots organization helps to provide gifts to those who are not as fortunate. Sponsored by the United States Marine Corps, veterans help to collect, and distribute thousands of toys throughout December. With your donation, this is made possible. Everything counts, from the smallest Lego to the biggest teddy bear! At Maritime Chevrolet, you can find a Toys for Tots bin to donate whatever you can spare to those truly in need this holiday season. Why should choose an electric vehicle?
By 2030 the US is expected to have over 18.7 million electric vehicles on the road. With almost every manufacturer selling an electric vehicle of some sort, the world seems to be shifting to electric vehicles.
If you are on the fence, here’s some positives to owning an electric vehicle:
Monetary
Gas prices aren’t 98 cents anymore. With average gas prices across the country reaching up to $4.50, the cost to top up your tank can reach up to $100! Electric vehicles have been rapidly improving on their drivability range with many vehicles reaching up to 500 miles on a single charge. With the ability to charge your vehicle for free at many parking lots, it can make sense to not have to worry about going to the gas station or worrying about the “E” on your gas gauge.
Emissions
There’s not much to say here. The emissions put out through a gas vehicle’s life harms our planet significantly. Electric vehicles can utilize electricity that comes from wind, solar, and even nuclear energy! With an ever looming focus on saving our planet, you can do your part to help.
Cheaper to Maintain
There is only one moving part in an electric vehicle’s “engine”: the rotor! There’s no expensive engine repairs, exhaust systems, fuel injection and starter motors to replace which makes everything so much easier to maintain. Of course, batteries do go out, but when those go out, you can rest easy knowing that it’s not much more than that.
Maritime
At Maritime Chevrolet, we are offering a FREE home charger with a purchase of any Bolt and Volt! Additionally, take up to $12,000 off existing Bolts and Volts! Get in quickly for this, because once we are out, we do not have any left!

Sopapilla Cheesecake
Thanksgiving can always be a stressful time. Making all the food, entertaining guests– it can get stressful! The one thing that should never be stressful is dessert! It’s the perfect way to finish a meal, and if you have an all-star finisher to your Thanksgiving dinner, everyone will walk away knowing that you are the go-to for amazing food.
Cue the Sopapilla Cheesecake. This dessert is so easy to make, and when I say easy, I mean easy. I have used this recipe for potlucks, work parties, and friendly gatherings. It is a hit every single time.
Making something this tasty is normally reserved for elaborate pastries and cakes, but it can be assembled and baked in under an hour. That’s 60 minutes TOTAL.
That’s enough hearing about how easy this recipe is, let’s get to the recipe:
Core Ingredients
4 packages (8 ounces each) of softened cream cheese
1 cup white granulated sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ cup flour (optional!)
2 cans (8 ounces each) of refrigerated crescent rolls
Butter Mixture
1 cup white sugar or light brown sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
½ cup unsalted butter (melted and cooled to room temps– this is important!)
Toppings (optional)
¼ cup of honey
Core Instructions
Preheat oven to 350F degrees.
Spray a 9 x 13 baking pan with nonstick cooking spray or butter it. Set aside.
Unroll one can of crescent roll dough, layer it onto the bottom of the pan, pressing seams together or use a rolling pin to shape it into 9×13 inch rectangle before adding it to the pan.
In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese and white sugar until light and creamy, about 2-3 minutes on medium-high speed. Stop to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl. NOTE: if you want to make a thinner cheesecake layer, you can use only 2-3 packages of cream cheese, I prefer it on the thicker side.
Add cinnamon, vanilla and egg, mix until blended. Add flour if you are looking for a denser texture. This cheesecake is very creamy.
Evenly spread the cream cheese mixture into the baking dish over the crescent dough layer.
Unroll remaining can of crescent roll dough, layer it on top of the cheesecake layer, try pressing seams together before adding it to the pan, or use a rolling pin to shape it into 9×13 inch rectangle before adding it to the pan.
Butter Mixture
Mix brown sugar and cinnamon in a medium bowl. Set aside.
Drizzle the top crescent dough layer with the melted butter. Distribute evenly.
Sprinkle over the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
Bake, uncovered in preheated oven for 30-40 minutes, until the crescent dough has puffed and turned golden brown. If you look at the bottom layer, it should be a light golden color.
Cool completely in the pan before transferring to the refrigerator for at least 3 hours.
Cut into squares and serve drizzled with honey.
